Can the courses be taken through distance learning? All courses in the catalog are offered through distance learning (done by study on your own, in your home, at your own pace). They are available at the same cost as the residential with exceptions of some postage and/or flash drive components.
How are course grades calculated? Each typical 3-credit hour residential course is graded as follows: the final exam is 40% of the total grade, the writing requirement is 50%, with attendance and participation worth 10% of the final grade calculation (pp. 23, 26). An example is as follows: final exam: 96%0.96 x 0.40 = 38.40; paper grade: 88%0.88 x 0.50 = 45.00; attendance and participation: late three times = one absence: 2.50 x 3 = 7.50; final grade: 38.40 + 45.00 + 7.50 = 90.90 or 91%.
What are the writing requirements for each course? Unless otherwise noted on a specific course syllabus, each course requires a specific number of content pages for a research paper, summaries, outlines or other written elements (guidelines available for each student). The written assignments (again unless otherwise noted on the syllabus) are one-sided, content pages which do not include title pages, bibliographies or footnotes.
